It takes guts to write entirely new music for the text of the greatest song cycle in all of Western music.  But Douglas J. Cuomo, combining as usual contemporary classical and various vernacular styles (here punk and acid jazz), has done just that:  a new setting of Wilhelm Müller's Winterreise.  This is a music-theater piece rather than a lieder recital; Jonathan Moore directs.  Tony Boutté sings.
