The draw here is Leonard Bernstein's rarely-performed late song cycle Arias and Bacarolles (one hopes it's the original version for two voices and two pianists), which -- for all its many lapses of taste -- is melodically irresistible (and thus is a pretty good proxy for its composer).  There's also a new mass byJonathan Newman, a composer whose work, to tell the truth, tends to be a little too accessible for my taste.

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT:  OK, make a lunch of it.  Back to Harry & Ida's Luncheonette for hipster pastrami.
