Tony Allen's work with Afrobeat legend Fela established him as one of the greatest drummers ever.  If his current project -- a collaboration with French jazz musicians recording for the once-credible jazz label Blue Note -- seems dubious (see remarks below re "fusion"), the fact remains that the guy is a monster player.

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT:  Before the show:  The Brooklyn Modern Peruvian restaurant Llama Inn has opened a sandwich shop in the Village called Llamita* (why oh why couldn't they have stuck with their original name "Deli Llama"?)!  The menu looks great!  I am REALLY excited about this.  After the show: Existing Conditions, certainly the most exciting new cocktail bar in New York (see below).
