Philadelphia's Jasper String Quartet, which likes to mix old music with new, presents an almost ridiculously appealing program.  Pieces by Missy Mazzoli and Caroline Shaw -- two of the best (and most aurally appealing) young composers around -- and by some guys named Beethoven (early) and (if they must) Mendelssohn.

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT:  Longstanding neighborhood fave Gabriela's Restaurant & Tequila Bar isn't one of the very best Mexican restaurants in town -- but it's certainly one of the most pleasant.
