Sara Serpa is a Portuguese-in-New-York jazz singer with a distinctive and quite attractive style — and she can compose, too. The slight nod goes to Friday's sax-and-piano backing, what with the sax being played by Ingrid Laubrock (whose newest record I'm about to put on, I'm sure you care) and all. But Saturday's guitar-piano-drums trio will be good, too.
