The great French composer Messiaen, one of the most distinctive voices in all of Western music, would have been 111 years old today.  Alexandra Saraceno plays his rarely heard early Preludes and, along with flautist Jacob Mortensen his marvelous birdsong evocation Le Merle Noir.  Happy Birthday!
