Bearthoven has the line-up of a traditional jazz piano trio -- but with the repertoire they're commissioning of contemporary classical heavily inflected by pop and jazz, they sure don't sound like one.  Opening is a duo consisting of a vocalist/movement artist and a good, noisy guitarist.

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT:  I frankly prefer the straight Korean follow-up that the team behind Red Hook's The Good Fork opened in another neighborhood after having achieved great success here.  But the appeal of their OG Red Hook hit, with its homey but precise Korean-inflected New American, can't be gainsaid.
