A restoration of a lost Jewish-made Weimar cinema seriocomedy heartbreakingly dealing with the vicissitudes of assimilation just before the rise of Nazaism made that a dead issue (literally). Accompanied by modern-Klezmer violinist Alicia Svigals -- one of the crucial musicians of our day, if you ask me -- and silent-film-music expert Donald Sosin, playing music redolent of Klezmer and Viennese waltzes. People LOVE this.

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: In Forest Hills/Flushing, outrageously good banh mi at Violette's Vietnamese Shoppe (f/k/a Violette's Bake Shoppe, for those who've been paying attention to the Forest Hills Vietnamese dining scene). In Kew Gardens, very good falafel at Grill Point.
