The magnificent bass-baritone (just listen to him!) Davóne Tines joins theDover Quartet for Caroline Shaw's wonderful folk/spiritual-based By and By (which I've only ever heard sung by Shaw herself: a very different singer from the deep, dramatically intense Tines). He'll stick around for Barber's Dover Beach, a work every bit as magnificent as his singing is. The rest of the program -- miscellaneous pieces for string quartet by Mendelssohn and Dvorák's last quartet -- will be pleasant.
