Most people might take it easy on their 80th birthday — but not avant-jazz legend Pharoah Sanders.  Aided by another intense exploratory player, Azar Lawrence, the great saxophonist is leading a septet in four sets — arranged throughout the day so as to play at 7:00 PM in different global time zones — from an experimental music space in Los Angeles.  Sanders was noisier than practically everyone else in the '60 — and while his music may have become more rounded since then, it hasn't gotten more timid or less intense.

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT:   Cosmic Cocktail:  pour 3 oz. dark matter and 7 oz. dark energy, with 1 dash each of ordinary matter and ordinary energy, into a lead recepticle.  Shake.  Pour out into the universe you've just created.
