I was almost surprised at how much I missed going to AFROPUNK Brooklyn this Summer.  You can complain about the Festival's programming's moves toward the mainstream since its strict punk beginnings — but that would miss the way the Festival now showcases the broad range of Alternative Black Pop in all its variegated glory.  This virtual iteration will feature live streams from several of the Festival's global locations, so timing will be a bitch.  But it'll be worth it.

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT:  Let's pretend it's still AFROPUNK's traditional Brooklyn time of August and have a Freight Train Swizzle:  pour 1-1/2 oz. aged Rum and 3/4 oz. each of Green Chartreuse, Falernum, and lime juice into an ice-filled cocktail shaker.  Shake.  Pour into a tall glass 2/3 full of crushed ice.  Stick in a straw.  Add 3 dashes of Angostura bitters.  Fill with more ice.  Garnish with some mint leaves and grated nutmeg.
