A woman sits in a room in a studio in the Santa Cruz mountains, filtering through her body the sounds of a past communal experience. Those sounds in turn trigger light emanating from the woman's body. Carmina Escobar makes the sort of static ambient (but not bland) music that many of us have found to be a true balm in These Trouble Times.
MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: La Lechedora: pour 1-1/2 oz. Sotol (get some of this as yet little-known [but very trendy] Mexican cactus liquor: you'll thank me), 1/2 oz. Curaçao, 2 oz. milk, and 1/2 oz. Simple Syrup, with two dashes of orange bitters, into an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Shake. Strain into a Collins glass. Garnish with an orange twist.
