God did I love seeing Molissa Fenley do her solo Rite of Spring setting State of Darkness in 1988.  Fenley's high-energy Minimalism at its most emotional and intense (Fenley was one of that school of artists in '80s who showed that Minimalism could be rough).  Now the Joyce has put together a bill of seven fantastic dancers to each do a (separately ticketed) solo performance.  Without disparaging this weekend's fabulous performers, I have to say that I'm going to wait for Sara Mearns and Cassandra Trenary next weekend (yeah, I'll probably watch them both) (I'm a fanboy:  so shoot me).

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT:  Mance Ryder:  pour 1-1/2 oz. Reposado Tequila and 1/2 oz. each of Mezcal, sweet Vermouth, and Cointreau, with 2 dashes each of Angostura and orange bitters, into a rocks glass over ice.  Stir.  Garnish with a lemon twist.
