Chowdhury continues his Vichitra project, exploring the various corners of the queer Southern Asian imagination.  In this one, a queer Black/Desi couple try to situate themselves in the wake of the Vice Presidential nomination of someone who's both Black and Desi (and has had each portion of her background challenged).

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT:  The Italian Job:  pour 3/4 oz. each of Jamaican Rum, Cocchi Americano, Aperol, and Byrrh, with 2 dashes of orange bitters, into an ice-filled cocktail shaker.  Stir.  Strain into a chilled Nick and Nora glass.  Garnish with an orange twist.
