The world cares, but Visions de l'Amen has to be my very favorite two-piano composition.  Utterly ecstatic, yet utterly refined in the French tradition — and sounding like nothing else in the world (except other Messiaen).  DACAMERA head honcho Sarah Rothenberg and her sometime duo partner Marilyn Nonken are able and experienced proponents of this endlessly compelling piece.  Lighting by Jennifer Tipton!

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT:  Le Forum:  pour 1-1/2 oz. gin and 1/2 each of dry Vermouth and Grand Marnier into an ice-filled cocktail shaker.  Stir.  Strain into a chilled Martini glass or coupe.  Garnish with an orange twist.
