This List loves Brad Balliett too much to forego even a last-minute notice. He's a fine bassoonist, but we mainly love him as a composer and stylist who's not afraid to use elements of hip-hop and Early Music in his pieces, nor to be sheerly purely enjoyable, even catchy. (He's also not afraid to look exactly like his identical twin brother, cellist/composer Doug — when they play together it's like a Certs commercial.) Tonight's solo recital includes one of Brad's marvelous bird pieces (he's also a dedicated birder): the bird music video he made in the Spring was one of the highlights of early Quarantine.

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: Yellow Bird: pour 1 oz. white Rum and 1/2 oz. each of Galliano, Cointreau (or other Triple Sec), and lime juice into an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Shake. Strain into a chilled Martini glass or coupe.
