The titanic annual Free Jazz festival goes online with an even more staggering line-up than usual, including among many many others such luminaries and luminaries-in-the-making as Wadada Leo Smith, Oliver Lake, David Murray, Bill Frisell, Gerald Cleaver, Amirtha Kidambi, Val Jeanty, and of course William Parker.  Thursday streams from Firehouse 12 in New Haven; the remaining shows from La Plaza at the Clemente on the Lower East Side.  Very limited available live tickets for the New York shows can be gotten (if there still are any) from the presenter at todd@artsforart.org.

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT:  If you somehow procure a live ticket, you can stop by Pig & Khao for Southeast Asian before or afterward (depending on the day's timing).  Those watching at home can make Brown Derbies:  pour 2 oz. dark Rum, 1 oz. lime juice, and 1 teaspoon of Maple Syrup into an ice-filled cocktail shaker.  Shake.  Strain into a chilled Martini glass or coupe.
