The advance notices of pianist Thomas Kotcheff's premiere recording of Frederic Rzweski's complete Songs of Insurrection have been rapturous. Kotcheff celebrate's the recording's release with a recital of Rzewski pieces and something brand new by Jordan Nelson. If you don't know, Rzewski is a signal composer, someone whose music is visceral, populist, propulsive, gripping — and relentlessly political. You NEED to listen.

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: Pay Cut: pour 2 oz. Bourbon, 3/4 oz. Amargo Vallet (this is good stuff you probably should have around), and 1/4 oz. Honey Syrup into a rocks glass over ice. Stir. Garnish with an orange twist.
