National Sawdust commissioned works from a bunch of carefully selected young (Matt Marks instruced us never to say "emerging") composers. Some you've heard of; others you haven't. But you know their work will be worth hearing (and in some cases loving). On Thursday, pieces are performed by National Sawdust's house ensemble. On Friday, by the peerless JACK Quartet.

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: Stone Fence: pour 2 oz. dark rum into a Pint glass over a couple of ice cubes. Top with Hard Cider (preferably one with a little residual sweetness).
