Flautist Claire Chase, certainly one of the best and most significant musicians walking the face of this planet, continues a series of commissions of solo (more or less) flute pieces, set to culminate in 2036 (we should all live so long) in celebration of the centenary of Varése's epochal solo flute piece Density 21.5.* The main thing tonight is a brand-new work by the always-fascinating Liza Lim entitled Sex Magic, celebrating women's power. Chase and some friends will also revisit previous pieces from the series, in recognition of the new release of recordings of them.

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: You lived through it, now you can drink it: Nor'easter. Pour 4 oz. Bourbon and 1 oz. each of lime juice and Maple Syrup into a cocktail shaker or pitcher. Chill in refrigerator. Pour into a rocks glass over ice. Top with ginger beer. Garnish with a lime slice.
