Wow.  A story of suburban disintegration set in some hypothetical time when people can actually come into the City from the suburbs.

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT:  And when they get there, maybe they'd like a New York Sour.  Pour 2 oz. Rye, 1 oz. lemon juice, and 1 oz. simple syrup into an ice-filled cocktail shaker, shake, and strain into a rocks glass over ice.  Top with 1/2 oz. of Bordeaux or another red wine (Bordeaux's what I first had in this, but many prefer something fruitier).  (Some people also like to mix in an egg white at the cocktail shaker stage, making it more of a classic sour.)
