Martyna Majok's socially conscious plays always get great reviews and win prizes (like for example the Pulitzer). This one is about a Polish immigrant woman living in New Jersey (you can guess around where from the title) working as a cleaning lady (as the playwright's mother did) and having various romantic attachments in a changing political environment over a 20-year period. This is a live read-through by the entire cast of the play's New York production (benefiting New York Theater Workshop [which was forced by The Plague to cut off a run of Majok's newest play] and an immigrant advocacy group).
MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: If you can find some bison grass vodka, you're in. (I can remember — barely — one night in Greenpoint when a subscriber/friend and I kept drinking bison grass vodka until we thought we'd never move again — and then kept ordering more: it's THAT good.)
