Catalytic Sound, an artists' collective dedicated to the dissemination of experimental improvised music, shows off its roster.  Since that includes some of the most interesting improvisational thinkers around, like pianist Sylvie Courvoisier, trumpeter Nate Wooley, and guitarist Joe Morris (none of them strangers to this List), you can expect a pretty great night.

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT:  We had a Wicked Kiss a couple of nights ago; now let's change it up a little bit for a Shruff's End (see which you prefer):  pour 1 oz. each of Laphroig or other peaty Islay Scotch and Laird's Bonded Apple Brandy, and 1/2 oz. of Bénédictine, with 2 dashes of Angostura bitters, into an ice-filled cocktail shaker, stir, and strain into a chilled Martini glass or coupe.
