Composer Carlos Simon's music is a little trad, but none the worse for that.  He couldn't ask for better performers than the live counter-tenor Anthony Roth Costanzo and the pre-recorded Brooklyn Youth Chorus.

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT:  A Three Miller (David Wondrich has pretty much established that the appealingly engimatic name is Harry Craddock's typo for "Three-Miler", i.e., outside what was once the three miles offshore in which Prohibition was enforced):  pour 2 oz. Cognac, 1 oz. white Rum, 1-1/2 teaspoons lemon juice, and 1 teaspoon Grenadine into an ice-filled cocktail shaker.  Shake.  Strain into a chilled Martini glass or coupe.
