Another Jazz Gallery initiative, this one featuring musical segments recorded by the participating artists during the week preceding the stream, and then live chat with the artists afterward.  The biggest deal tonight is Gerald Clayton, a pianist/composer who is in the tradition but not bound by it (his most recent album, Tributary Tales, is well worth your time and attention).  But I personally am also pretty excited to hear Rupa Mahadevan, who takes Southern Indian Karnatic music and runs with it.  Ben Williams is a sharp bassist/composer, and neo-fusionoids Secret Mall round out the bill.

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT:  L'il Jig is another good Phil Ward Pegu creation:  muddle 3 Thai basil leaves in a cocktail shaker with 3/4 oz. lime juice and 1/2 oz. Simple Syrup.   Pour in 1-1/2 oz. Silver Tequila and 1/2 oz. Yellow Chartreuse, and fill with ice.  Shake, and strain into a chilled Martini glass or coupe.
