I'm not certain you can bridge existing divides by fusing Motown with Mozart and Purcell. But the formidable Alicia Hall Moran is gonna try.

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: From Detroit, Michigan, the La Joya: pour 1-1/2 oz. Mezcal and 3/4 oz. each of green Chartreuse and Pedro Ximénez Sherry, with 6 dashes of grapefruit bitters, into an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Stir. Strain into a chilled Martini glass or coupe. Express a grapefruit peel into the drink and discard the rind.
