Usually the master double bassist Robert Black devotes these recitals to expanding the famously meager repertoire for his instrument. But this month he revisits works by giants of 20th Century Countercultural Classical (these people were before "Alt").

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: The Three-Martini Lunch is dead. But you can revive it: pour 2 oz. Gin and 1 oz. dry Vermouth into an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Stir. Garnish with a lemon twist or an olive. (For three Martinis, do it thrice.)
