A concert asking the musical question: is even Conrad Tao worth sitting through the annoyingly NPR-ish brass quartet The Westerlies for? That said, every composer of pre-composed music on this program is beyond terrific. As for the improvisational portions of the program, Tao's improvisations with Charmaine Lee at Merkin/Kaufman last month were great — but Lee is hardly annoyingly NPR-ish.

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: In a city rife with Dominican spots, the Malecon chain are some of the best. And their supernal stewed goat is a Monday special!
