Trumpeter-about-town Steph Richards (a really great player) does the live version of her sniff-and-sound piece, where the music is complemented by a series of abstract scents on a scratch pad supplied to the audience. (I actually didn't find that the scents added much when I sniffed them along with the recording of this piece — but YMMV.) (The music was great regardless.) Also, a conduction piece.

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: I first met Steph when we were both reaching for the same item on a food tray at a post-performance reception some years ago (those who know me will be astonished to learn that I let Steph take it). So you KNOW I'm going to recommend someplace good for after the show, if you go in person: Kind of Soul around the corner. Those streaming at home might have a Vieux Carée: pour 3/4 oz. each of Rye, Cognac, and Bénédictine, with 2 dashes each of Angostura and Peychaud's bitters, into an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Stir. Strain into an Old Fashioned glass over ice. Garnish with a cocktail cherry.
