The Cramer Quartet commissioned seven composers to write pieces to fit between the nine movements of Haydn's supernal series of adagios, The Seven Last Words of Christ, taking the place of the sermons that were intended to be inserted in those places. And those composers are Jessica Meyer, Colin Jacobsen, Nico Muhly, Tania León, Reena Esmail, Paola Prestini, and Caroline Shaw! Thursday night's performance will be accompanied by dedicated digital projections; Sunday's will put you in what has to be one of the two or three very best dining neighborhoods in New York City.

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: Thursday, cross the street to Bessou for delightful home-style Japanese. Sunday there's an embarrassment of riches; try Alley 41, which not only serves great Sichuan, but is a total blast.
