It would be silly to claim that Jeremy O. Harris's is the smartest, most audacious, most piercing play ever to be staged on Broadway. But that's what you'll think as you walk out, and as you continue to think about the play in the following days. (It would be safer to say it's the smartest, most audacious, most piercing treatment of race — but let's face it, that category is neither huge nor, up to now, very distinguished.)
MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: I've never had a bad time at Russian Samovar (even if, owing to overindulgence in their infused vodkas, I've had bad times the following mornings).
