The Knights ("known far beyond" Brooklyn, their website asserts) play something old (Schubert, Vaughan Williams), something new (Jessie Montgomery), and something to make you blue (well, Louis Moreau Gottschalk isn't that bad — but dumb late-19th Century music is dumb late-19th Century music, no matter how American, and African-American- and Afro-Caribbean-influenced, it is).

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: In person, been a while since we've been to neighborhood Italian fave Sfoglia. Streaming at home, Gottschalk would have wanted you to have an A La Louisiane: pour 3 oz. Rye, 3/4 oz. sweet Vermouth, 1/2 oz. Benedictine, and 3/4 teaspoon Absinthe, with 3 dashes of Peychaud's bitters, into an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Stir. Strain into a chilled Martini glass or coupe. Garnish with a cocktail cherry.
