Future-forward R&B music theater composer Justin Hicks (whose work tends to be wonderful) makes something out of the transcript of a conversation with his mother.

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: I wish I knew what Justin Hick's mom likes to drink. Absent that, she deserves a cocktail as good as Queen Elizabeth's mom's (who had — and reportedly her daughter does, too — one before lunch every day), the Queen Mother: pour 2 oz. Dubonnet and 1 oz. Gin into an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Stir. Strain into a chilled coupe or Nick and Nora glass. Hold your pinky out when you drink it.
