Speaking for myself (which is kind of the point of having a newsletter), I find the straight classical music composed by Arcade Fire's Richard Reed Parry pretty thin. But I have a great deal of affection for the chiming, gleaming classical/rock stuff he does with Bell Orchestre. Which shows that hybrid music can be more valid/interesting/appealing than unalloyed stylistic exercises if everybody isn't thinking in terms of contrived Fusion, but rather Music Without Borders. This thing tonight is a sort of long-form music video.

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: Montreal: pour 3/4 oz. each of Gin, Rye (preferably Canadian), Aperol, and Suze into an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Stir. Strain into a chilled Nick and Nora glass. Garnish with a grapefruit twist.
