Violist Joanna Mattrey's work is both musically and culturally wide-ranging, reflecting her interests in yoga, martial arts, and ritual as well as extended technique. This piece uses imagery and poetry as well as sound to invoke myth.

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: Too Soon?: put 2 orange slices at the bottom of a cocktail shaker. Fill with ice. Pour in 1 oz. each of Gin and Cynar, 3/4 oz. lemon juice, and 1/2 oz. Simple Syrup. Shake hard. Strain into a chilled Martini glass or coupe.
