This is at the inner edge of what we List here: it's really pretty mainstream. BUT: (a) Dashon Burton is a terrific singer, just terrific; (b) a program interspersing all of Schumann's Dichterliebe — one of the greatest and most absorbing of warhorses — with more obscure material is appealing (even if that obscure material is mostly pretty mainstream in affect); and (c) not only is Dichterliebe great and absorbing, but it includes the single greatest passive-aggressive "fuck you" song in all of Western music.

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: Dark Side: pour 2-1/2 oz. Gin and 3/4 oz. Barolo Chinato, with 3 dashes of Peychaud's bitters, into an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Stir. Strain into a chilled Martini glass or coupe. Garnish with a cocktail cherry.
