Ethan Iverson plays jazz piano like someone who listens to a lot of contemporary classical and pop music: not a fusion, but the inflections are there. His rhythm section tonight is fascinating: the understated Americana-ist Thomas Morgan on bass, and the incendiary avant-gardeist Andrew Cyrille on drums.

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: American Trilogy: pour 1 oz. each of Rye and Laird's Bonded Apple Brandy, with 2 dashes of orange bitters and 1 brown sugar cube, into an Old Fashioned glass. Add ice. Stir. Garnish with an orange twist.
