Chicago's excellent Spektral Quartet plays music by, among others, Tomeka Reid, Sufjan Stevens, and Franz Schubert — while you write postcards to whomever you choose.

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: Brandy Crusta: rim a wine glass with sugar. Curl a long strip of lemon peel around the inside (fancy!). Pour 2 oz. Cognac, 1/2 oz. Cointreau, and 1/4 oz. each lemon juice and Demerara Syrup, with 1 dash each of Angostura and Peychaud's bitters, into an ice filled cocktail shaker. Shake. Strain into the rimmed wine glass with the lemon peel curled around its inside.
