Master drummer Tomas Fujiwara (I'm listening to him as I type this: what a mind!) goes all autobiographical and Hapa on us in a set of compositions played by him and a rather spectacular ensemble.

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: If you go to the venue, it'll be nice to walk around the corner to the welcoming and delicious Kind of Soul. At home, please understand that, while it's a perfectly good cocktail taste-wise, I'm recommending the Yaka Hula Hickey Dula ironically, as an example of the kind of derisive appropriation I'm sure Fujiwara will be exploring (it is good to drink, though): pour 1-1/2 oz. each of Dark Rum, dry Vermouth, and pineapple juice into an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Shake. Strain into a chilled Martini glass or coupe.
