Adam Rudolph combines World with New Thing jazz, usually in a large ensemble, but here in a quartet including musicians from several different traditions. His major achievement is the avoidance of mere syncretism. How he does it is anybody's guess.

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: If you go in person, excellent speakeasy cocktails with an electric theme and serviceable bar snacks to absorb them at Patent Pending. If you watch from home, try a Gin & It: pour 2 oz. each Gin and 1 oz. sweet Vermouth into an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Stir. Strain into chilled Martini glass or coupe. Garnish with a lemon twist or a few cocktail cherries.
