Are Chai the band of the year or what? They started out Pop Art Punk, but on their great new album move into something groovier. All done with the ironic distance imposed by their doing this from Japan — an ironic distance their relentless youthfulness can't erase. (And boy are they proud to be girls.)

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: Pink Gojira: pour 2 oz. Junmai Sake, 1 oz. St-Germain, and 1/2 oz. each lemon juice and Simple Syrup, with 2 dashes of lavender bitters, into an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Shake. Strain into a chilled Martini glass or coupe. Garnish with flowers.
