The questing trumpeter Peter Evans pulls together several of his favorite musics: Trane-style modal-into-free jazz, traditional African and Indian, AACM. And what a quartet he's assembled to do it (Joel Ross fans: pay attention)!

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: If you go, the transformation of The Breslin into Breslin Burger is a man-to-ape reversion — but that burger menu is still mighty appealing. At home, have a Bloody Sunday: pour 1-1/2 oz. Bourbon, 1/2 oz. each of orange juice and Grenadine, and 1 teaspoon Crème de Violette, with 1 dash Peychaud's bitters, into an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Shake. Strain into a chilled Martini glass or coupe. Garnish with 1/2 of a split vanilla bean, if you happen to have one.
