Pianist/composer Sonya Belaya applies her Russian jazz/folk to the effect of automatic patterns of thought on immigrant women. You would not believe the band she has assembled.

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: If you go to the venue, it'll be nice to walk around the corner to the welcoming anddelicious Kind of Soul. At home, have a Gin-Gin Mule and thank God for Audrey Saunders: put 6 mint sprigs at the bottom of a cocktail shaker. Pour in 3/4 oz. lime juice and 1 oz. Simple Syrup. Muddle. Add ice. Pour in 1-1/2 oz. Gin and 1 oz. ginger beer. Strain into a mule mug over ice. Garnish with some mint leaves.
