You can put on all the free shows by racial and sexual minorities you want, but it doesn't change the fact that you're acting as a band aid created to distract the populace from the fact that the development you're situated in was funded by a blatant misappropriation of public tax revenues for a semi-gated residence/playground for capital.* That rant is directed at the venue; I wish nothing but joy to the Queer Black multidiscplinary performance artist Nia O. Witherspoon on getting presented there, and expect this AR experience celebrating Black woman warriors to be great.
MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: At least Jose Andres is spending his ill-gotten Hudson Yard gains on worthy things (although, as always when people collaborate with the forces of evil, it's complicated) — and Spanish Diner is actually good.
