The first of two programs (the next airs next Wednesday) in which this vibrant string quartet plays music by women composers written over nearly a millenium. And what composers! Here, we have a piece by Barbara Strozzi, as good as almost any other vocal composer in 17th Century Venice. And Eleanor Alberga, who has the tremendous musical advantage of coming from Jamaica.

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: Act of Faith: pour 1-1/2 oz. Jamaican Rum, 1/2 oz. each of Blackstrap Rum and Pedro Ximenez Sherry, and 1/4 oz. Angostura Bitters into a rocks glass over ice. Stir. Garnish with an orange twist.
