I don't usually recommend ghost bands — but Jesus Christ the Sun Ra Arkestra! (And are we really sure Sun Ra has fully departed this plane — not that he was fully here to begin with?!) And anyway, the opening act, Angel Bat Dawid's Sistazz of the Nitty Gritty, are very much in their prime.

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: Back to the problem that Uptown restaurants close early these days — so unless you're willing to travel to a more congenial neighborhood (as you should — but then you'll have to decide on a place on your own), you're stuck with the uncivilized expedient of eating before the show. How about the Uptown location one of the places that, in its former Downtown iteration, helped start the current, very welcome Georgian trendlet, Oda House?
