Sudan Archives, with her avant-rock-inflected Nu R&B, has just what you want in an um advanced pop musician: she doesn’t sound unrecognizably unlike everything else, but she doesn’t sound like anything else, either. Good songs, good singing and playing (she’s a violinist), good production. I’ll bet she’s good live, too.
