Sorry, but headliner Taylor McFerrin (son of a famous father and grandson of a famous grandfather) is too smooth for this List. BIGYUKI, who keeps his jazz-based electronica and electronica-based jazz spare and rough, is just what this List likes. Nu R&B singer-songwriter J. Hoard is smooth in good way: he keeps the edges rough.

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: There’s nothing wrong with the objectively unobjectional American Bistro food at Walter’s. But every time I eat it, I can’t help thinking, “isn’t this a little BORING?”
