Unless you saw him at Barbès last night, Sonelius Smith is probably still the best jazz pianist you’ve never heard of.

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: In person, the Midwestern food at Patti Ann’s is tasty enough. Too bad it’s so rich, and the portions are so big, that you can’t actually eat it (or at least come near finishing it). Streaming at home, have a Red Hook: pour 2 oz. Rye and 1/2 oz. each of Punt e Mes (or Cocchi Dopo Teatro) and Maraschino liqueur into an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Stir. Strain into a chilled Martini glass or coupe.
