A new setting by non-female Iranian composer Reza Vali of Rumi, Hafez, and Sapehri (those poets’ work — especially that of the two Classics among the three — of course being super-great stuff). The rest of the show is the kind of thing Jordi Savall has been doing so brilliantly: an exploration of the musics being made in the so-called Near East and Maghreb during the period of our Western “Early Music”.
